The plot is based on an article published by the New York Times in June 2014. The picture is devoted to the history of the elderly and lonely veteran of the Second world war Earl stone (Clint Eastwood), forced to take on any part-time work to make ends meet. Soon the hero offer of becoming a driver, and himself Earl suspects that he was hired as a drug mule for the Mexican cartel Sinaloa. Things are going so well that stone is trusted with more and more cargo to transport, and financial problems no longer threaten him. However, Earl begins to follow drug control agent Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper), and at the same time he becomes a target for his competitor.
